LADAKH-SHAM VALLEY

Duration: 10 Nights / 11 Days

Destination: Leh-Likir-Yangthang-Hemis Shupachan-Lamayuru-Leh-Pangong-Hunder(Nubra Valley)

Day 1: Arrive Leh :- Upon arrival at Leh Airport you will met by our representative and transfer to Hotel for Check in. Complete day for rest and leisure to acclimatize. Evening Visit to Leh Market & Shanti Stupa. Overnight at Hotel.

Day 2: Leh(Excursion to Monasteries):- Post Breakfast we proceed for Indus Valley Monastery tour including Shey Palace, The ancient capital of Ladakh, Thiksey an impressive complex rising tier upon tier on a hill above the village, Hemis Gompa, the largest monastic foundation of Drukpa Kagyu Order of Tibetan Buddhism, Sindhu Ghat & Stok Palace Museum. Packed or Hot Lunch will be provided. Overnight at Hotel.


Day 3:Leh-Lirik (Drive) Trek to Yangthang
After breakfast drive from Leh to Likir for 2 hours. At Likir you will meet all your trekking staff and ponies. One can visit Likir monastery situated on a hill towards the village. Start your trek through a barley field to cross a small stream and then to village Sumdo. Then gradually trek to village Yangthang to camp overnight.


Day 4: Yangthang to hemis Shupachan Via Rizong:-
Trek to Wulle valley and then ascent for one hour to Shemchan La and then descent towards Hemis Shukpachan, the highest village in this route. It's a big village and is famous for Cedar trees found in plenty here, hence the name of village. We will visit a family house and have some butter tea and Ladakhi chang (the local beer) There is a small but beautiful monastery just outside the village that we can visit. Camp for overnight stay.

 

Day 5: Hemis Shupachan to Lamayuru and drive back to Uleytokpo :- We trek through the Apricot rich village of Ang and This valley has warm weather as compared to Indus valley and hence conducive to thick vegetation and hence there are plenty of apricots, apples and nuts making it one of the richest valleys in Ladakh. Since people are rich they have beautiful houses with wonderful interior. Lamayuru monastery was founded by Rinchen Zangpo in the 10th century. Overnight stay in uleytokpo Camp.


Day 6: Lamayuru-Leh :-
In the morning we visit the Lamayuru monastery to be part of the morning religious ceremony. It's a very soothing and spiritual experience to be there among these warm and friendly monks. On our way to Leh we can visit the Basgo monastery also, famous for its Buddha statue. In Leh overnight stay in the hotel.


Day 7: Leh-Pangong Lake:-
After an early breakfast we Leave for Pangong Lake through Changla pass 5486 Mtrs. Pangong Lake, situated at 14,000 feet (4,267 m). A long narrow basin of inland drainage, hardly six to seven kilometer at its widest point and over 130km long, it is bisected by the international border between India and China. A few years back the government decided to open it to tourists though the lake and its surrounding is under army surveillance.

Enjoy the landscape in the back drop of the Lake. One rarely feels so close to nature and environment and the scenery is unforgettable. Evening at leisure and overnight stay at the camp near lake.


Day 8: Pangong Lake-Leh:-
Morning at leisure to explore the beauty of lake and later we drive back to leh enroute visiting Thiksey an impressive complex rising tier upon tier on a hill above the village & Shey, The ancient capital of Ladakh. Drive further to Leh and check in at our hotel for Overnight.


Day 9: Leh-Hunder(Nubra Valley) :-
After an early breakfast we drive to NUBRA VALLEY leads through KHARDUNG-LA-PASS (the highest motorable road in the world) at 18,390 ft, around 39kms from Leh. Nubra Valley is popularly known as Ldorma or the valley of flowers. It is situated to the North of Ladakh between the Karakoram and Ladakh ranges of the Himalayas. First visit SUMUR, another pretty village on the other side of the river'; SAMSTANLING GOMPA here was founded by Lama Tsultims Nima and Monastic community was introduced as Rezong Gonpa. Overnight at Nubra Organic Retreat situated in a beautiful village called HUNDER with lot of trees.


Day 10: Hunder(Nubra Valley)-Leh:-
After your breakfast at the camp, visit the SAND DUNES to enjoy a camel safari (Optional). Later we drive to Leh over Khardung La. Afternoon rest and relax or take a walk to the local market. Overnight at hotel.


Day 11: Depart leh(Fly Out):-
Tour concludes. Mountain Trails thank you for your patronage and ensure a punctual transfer to Domestic Airport to catch the flight for your onward Destination.
